NPR ran a story this morning about the efforts to save the great wealth of New Orleans public artwork, in museums, in architecture, in parks. Some areas, such as the French Quarter, are high and dry and ready for business. The basement of the New Orleans Museum of Art is dry and secure.

One thousand folks left without homes by Katrina begin to arrive tomorrow night (pending SOP FEMA chaos) at PDX. Let’s all welcome them, and keep welcoming them until they are home and safe.
